After withdrawing from The Genesis Invitational 2024 Tiger Woods left the Riviera Country Club. After the 2023 PNC Championship, a 48-year-old golfer returned to compete, but his back pain caused him trouble in the first round.

However, Woods managed to finish the round with a score of 72. Playing six holes after teeing off Friday, however, he withdrew due to illness. The flu-like symptoms and dehydration plagued him.

An ambulance and fire truck were spotted by fans outside the golf course, but Woods was escorted in a standard tournament vehicle.

“He had some fever and was in better shape during the warm-up, but when he started walking around and playing again, his dizziness began to occur,” McNamara explained.

Doctors have said in the end that he had some sort of flu, and that he was dehydrated. He has received medical attention with an IV bag and is now in better condition, and will be released on his own here.

The 15-time major winner had a round of one over through six holes and was par for the entire tournament, leaving him on a golf cart after his second round on Friday.

After suffering from severe leg injuries in a 2021 car crash, the 48-year old had not played any part in an ongoing PGA Tour event since participating in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in December. His return to the tournament was for The Genesis Invitational, which he also hosts in Southern California.

Over the past four seasons Woods has only competed in nine official events – missing out on two occasions, and withdrawing three times. Woods, who underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2017, blamed back spasms for his unexpected fall at the 18th hole of his first round, which ended with one-over par. In spite of this, McNamara maintained that none of Woods’s ongoing injury problems were responsible for his withdrawal. It’s not like there’s a physical issue, just his back,” McNamara said. He said: ‘It was all medical issues, it was dehydration. Following the use of an IV, the symptoms are reversing. The illness may have been a temporary setback for him, but it has also resulted in Woods losing out on tournament play as places are increasingly scarce.

The Pacific Palisades enclave will host the tournament from Feb. 15-18, marking Woods’ first official appearance on a PGA tour since he was forced to withdraw from the 2023 Masters last April due to plantar fasciitis. Following a previous car accident injury, he underwent surgery for post-traumatic arthritis a few weeks later.

Upon his return to the sport in December 2023, Woods placed 18th at the Hero World Challenge and later teamed up with Charlie to compete at the PNC Championship.
